Growing up In San Diego, CA means that real coats are a pretty foreign concept to me. My “winter coat” was one that I picked up on a whim from the the mall while headed to the beach one day. It was really thin, only kind-of cute, and totally unnecessary in southern California. I mean, I would basically wear it any time it was below 70 degrees while complaining that I couldn’t believe how cold California was. Let’s just say that I was in for a very rude awakening once I moved to the east coast. Understatement of the year, I know.

There was nothing that could have prepared me for the cold weather that New York experiences every winter. That being said, I’ve definitely experimented with my fair share of real coats over the past six years (and have thankfully donated my old San Diego winter coat quite some time ago). There were coats that were gorgeous but provided zero warmth. #aesthetics Then, there were the coats that were outrageously warm but that also looked like sleeping bags. I never really found ones that felt like a good mix of the two worlds.

Then, Gal Meets Glam started working on their stunning debut coat collection and invited me to be one of the first to check them out. I was instantly sold as soon as I slipped into one. All thirteen of the Gal Meets Glam coats combine function and style in the best way. No, really. They are the things that fairy tales are made of. Like, total Amy Adams in “Enchanted” vibes. Remember that scene where she runs through Central Park and has a whole impromptu musical number happen and Patrick Dempsey’s character follows her everywhere? The Gal Meets Glam debut coat collection is a little like that. Except maybe better.

Just take a look at the ruffle sleeves on the Emilia or the French blue wool of the Jolie. Obsessed? I know I am.
