Lovely Happenings and DIY Face Masks.

Lovely Happenings and DIY Face Masks.

If there are pretty flowers, cheese plates and shopping involved, you can almost bet that I'll be there. I had the opportunity to be a part of the Spring 2016 Lovely Happenings lifestyle workshop event that took place last month and am still riding the high of meeting so many amazing readers and presenting alongside such inspirational men and women.

After the fashion panel, I headed up my own DIY face mask station with the help of one of my closest friends, LaShauna. I'm a firm believer that you don't have to spend hundreds of dollars on products and always look to my kitchen first before swiping my credit card. Although I love treating myself to a fun salon treatment, there are plenty of quick DIY versions that are much easier on my wallet.

I scoured the web for the best recipes to restore my skin and found tons of amazing ones with ingredients that were already sitting in my kitchen cabinet. To help Lovely Happenings attendees gorgeous, glowing skin, I held demos on how to create two super easy and quick face masks that double as scrubs.

Here are the masks I made:

  1. Boss Babe Brown Sugar Mask - 2 tablespoons of brown sugar and 2 tablespoons of virgin coconut oil. Mix the two together and apply it to a slightly damp face in gentle circular motions. Let it sink in for a few minutes and then wash it off with warm water. Brown sugar sloughs off dead skin while the coconut oil packs it with moisture.
  2. Glowing Goddess Oatmeal Mask - 2 tablespoons of raw oats and 2 tablespoons of raw honey. Use equal parts raw oats and raw honey for a soft and glowy finish. Oats are a natural and soothing exfoliator and is perfect for use on sensitive skin. Raw honey is is super healing ingredient that kills off bacteria and reduces inflammation. If you're looking for clearer skin, this mask is a must! For extra acne-fighting power, mix a few drops of tea tree oil into the mask.

Thank you to everyone who came out to Lovely Happenings this spring! I loved meeting so many phenomenal men and women and can't wait for the next event!
